EnviroHub Water Quality Monitoring Unit MU02
EnviroHub’s Monitoring Unit (MU) sits at the core of many water test-and-treat systems, monitoring flow, turbidity and other key water quality parameters. Its wide deployment over the past couple of years has allowed Atlantic Pumps’ Product Development team to further refine the product.
The MU fits into common sizes of industrial pipework (DN 50 – DN 250), and essentially provides a versatile interface between the flowing water and various sensor probes.
New, Advanced Monitoring Unit Launched
Retaining the most successful elements of the original design, Atlantic Pumps R&D team has redesigned the latest MU with many improvements in mind, such as:
- Minimal friction loss. Angled sections have been replaced by smooth radius bends.
- Inlet and outlet straights are configured to match the pipe diameter.
- Product manufacturing timescale and costs reduced, encouraging more sites and firms to benefit from live water flow and quality data.
- Inbuilt lifting pockets allow easier forklift movement around the site.
- Anti-syphon air relief valves on the inlet and outlet.
- The modular approach now sees a lower entry-level price for those testing just one or two parameters.
- Magflow meters or mechanical meters are easier to fit.
- Improved mounting of the Control Module (CM02).
- Available in 4 sizes to cover a wide range of flow and volume requirements: 2”, 4”, 6”, and 10”
- The 2” pipeline model has an expanded testing chamber to aid flow and reduce the risk of blockage/fouling around the test probes.
- pH, turbidity and other probes are easily removed and reinserted for cleaning and calibration purposes.
- Precise length-to-diameter ratio on the inlet and outlet straights aids smooth flow, within a compact footprint.
The latest MU brings together field experience, user experience, and feature requests to enable new use-cases. Currently, the two main users of EnviroHub are companies discharging wastewater, and industries recycling site process water. Importantly, the modular EnviroHub suite is designed not just to monitor live data, but to enable swift corrective action to keep water flows within permitted parameters.
The new MU increases flexibility and scalability in water quality monitoring, allowing for single to multiple parameter monitoring. is set to radicalise users’ ability to capture more water quality and quantity data insights into their piped process water, or wastewater discharges.
Lead project engineer Roger McCreadie says “The launch of this version is part of our continual development of EnviroHub, as we seek to provide better solutions to water treatment’s evolving needs. Following on so soon after a significant upgrade to the EnviroHub Control Module, we are delighted to bring our industrial water quality monitoring unit within the scope of more applications and budgets.”
The Control Module upgrade McCreadie refers to is the unit that communicates water readings to the cloud-based data system, and co-ordinates pump and valve operations based on pre-programmed or manually-triggered actions. As noted by the Water Magazine, the latest Control Module offers a number of benefits for multi-asset owners and area managers responsible for multiple treatment systems and sites. The entire EnviroHub suite is designed for mobility and modularity, and the newly revised Monitoring Unit and Control Modules are set to take this proven concept to new applications and innovations.
Lower entry bar for simple flow or basic parameter control
Some structural improvements have reduced the lead time and production cost of the base module, and by taking the modular concept to the next level, the core of the MU is now at its lowest-ever price.
If you only need to monitor and control one or two parameters, such as flow and pH, this latest version is particularly budget-friendly, yet readily extendable if required.
