BACKGROUND

Cairneyhill Quarry is situated in Airdrie, Scotland and is owned by Tarmac Ltd. Following a routine site visit to introduce ourselves earlier in the year, we were contacted by the quarry after a worn impeller and liner contributed to the 150/125 slurry pump failing (see photos). An enquiry to their then pump supplier had seen Cairneyhill quoted a lead time for a replacement slurry pump of 6-8 weeks and so the site contacted Atlantic Pumps.

SOLUTION

Like all customers, we responded to Cairneyhill’s enquiry immediately; within the hour our team had contacted the client with a quote and a lead time. Our rapid lead times are thanks to our extensive stock of pumps and parts housed here at our Sheffield-based warehouse - all of which are available for next day delivery. A replacement pump was delivered to Cairneyhill Quarry the very next day thus helping the site avoid a significant period expensive downtime. The slurry pump was installed by onsite engineers and was immediately put into operation. Fast forward four months and the pump continues to work without problem and Cairneyhill have gone on to place an order for a further two slurry pumps from Atlantic Pumps – one 150/125 and one 200/150.
