Audex manufacture dewatering pumps for dirty water, mud sludge, and abrasive slurries. The pumps run fully submerged in sumps, wedge pits or open-water lagoons.

Audex submersed pumps are built to outlast standard sump pumps in heavy duty dewatering situations in the toughest environments; mines, quarries, construction sites, recycling facilities, wastewater treatment, and heavy-side industry.

Designed to pump dirty water and aggresive liquids with suspended solids such as grit, pebbles, metal filings, and other abrasive mixed solids they are made in a range of sizes from 2” to 8” outlet. Powered by sealed electric motor, these ‘Wet Pumps’ are essential tools for pumping water, slurry and grits from wedge pits, settlement ponds, stormwater sumps, tailing dams, and more.

Originally established in the mining industry, Audex pumps are now found in many sectors where abrasive solids are entrained in liquids. A robust cast iron or steel body, careful material choice for wear parts, open-design impellers, and intake agitators all add up to a pump that lasts longer, reduces blockage incidents, and saves maintenance costs and downtime in some of industry’s most aggressive pump duties.

The range of Audex pumps has been well-proven by Australian and American rare earth mineral extraction companies, UK silica sand quarries, Norwegian garnet and rutile miners, European tunnelling and civil engineering construction firms, and British steel mills to cite a few examples.

All Audex submersible pump models are designed for maximum energy efficiency in dirty water/light slurry pumping, with a compact design and top outlet that enables them to be submerged into pits as narrow as 30cm. Lifting eyes make installation and retrieval easy, and they can be suspended from davits, Audex pontoons, or lifting beams. Inlet strainers from 6mm to 30mm are fitted, depending on the model’s designed maximum solid passage size.

Versatile, robust submersible sump pumps – the Audex Pump AW range

Audex AW and AW Pro pumps have wear-resistant, high-chrome agitators and ductile iron impellers, ideal for pumping slurry, muddy and solids- laden dirty water and other aggressive fluids. Used extensively by civil engineers, construction contractors, and utility companies, these ‘mud’ pumps have their cable connection and outlets on the top to aid insertion into pit wells and trenches.

  • 110v models produce up to 17m head height or 300L/m max flow
  • 230v (single phase) 2” and 3” discharge diameter models produce up
to 20m max head, or 210L/min to 500L/min flow rates
  • 3-phase (415v) available in 3” to 8” discharge outlet, producing up to
130m head, or 6,500L/min (390m3/hr) max flow rate
  • 2”, 3”, 4”, 6” and 8” diameter outlet sizes

Protecting what matters – the Audex AW PRO range

Four sizes in the AW range that are most popular with our industrial clients can be upgraded to AW PRO, which sees the addition of an intelligent control system (ICS) to protect the pump motor. The ICS automatically stops the pump from running if it senses a wiring fault, incorrect voltage, motor overload, or jammed impeller. This helps prevent further costly damage, allowing timely maintenance intervention before it becomes a bigger job. It also stores malfunction history, helping to speed up diagnosis and time needed to resolve the issue.

The AW Pro range also features an inbuilt level sensor with a time delay, which means the pump runs only when it needs to and prevents ‘dry-running’ damage. This removes the need for a separate control panel and external float switches which can be prone to jamming.

High-head / High Volume dewatering – Audex AS range of pumps

The AS family is Audex’s top-of-the-range pump, aimed at volume pumping of mud, silt, and slurry to a higher head pressure (height).

  • 2.2kW to 90kW 3-phase motors (approx. 3 Hp to 120 Hp)
  • Flowrates of 550L/min to 6,500L/min (33m3/hr to 390m3/hr)
  • 19 to 130m total dynamic head
  • 2”, 3”, 4”, 6” and 8” outlet diameter models

Available on most of the larger AS pumps is the Audex Seal Protection Device, which monitors moisture levels behind the first seal and shuts down the pump as soon as it senses any moisture. This avoids a costly motor rewind, helps protect the secondary seal, and reduces the length of downtime as it allows for a quick parts replacement without a full pump rebuild. The Audex Seal Protection Device can be installed in any control panel.

Audex Pontoons

For open water bodies such as dams, lakes and lagoons it is better to suspend your submersible pump from a purpose-built pontoon.

Audex pontoons enable you to position your submersed pump in the best location and depth to abstract the clearest water and avoid disturbing settled silt and plant growth. Pontoons are available in 200kg – 800kg SWL models as standard and others can be made to order. The latest design features an optional A-frame lifting rig to aid deployment and retrieval via telehandler or lifting crane.
