Self-Priming Pumps
Self-priming pumps are a great choice for suction lift applications – i.e. where the dry-sited pump is above the water source. Standard centrifugal pumps have poor suction lift, so they require manual priming if they are emptied of water. This can be overcome by adding a priming reservoir or non-return valves near the pump inlet.
Positive displacement pumps, like the LSM peristaltic pump, have good suction-lift capabilities, making them effectively self-prime up to 4m suction height.
Submersible pumps naturally self-flood, meaning priming is never an issue. Our pump technical advisors can help you find the best self-priming pump for your application. See below for the popular self-priming pump options.
