LSM Pumps manufacture heavy-duty peristaltic pumps for difficult sludge duties. High solids, high density, semi-dry, or shear-sensitive – LSM pumps just keep rolling

Manufacturer of the world’s largest peristaltic pump, LSM have developed a unique line of low-maintenance, high performance pumps for some of the most challenging slurries, pastes, and difficult to handle fluids.

Peristaltic Pumps are as known as ‘hose pumps’, or ‘roller pumps’ as the fluid is pushed along a hose by internal rollers. The peristaltic pumping principle is a form of postive displacement, which is ideal for shear-sensitive fluids, high dry-matter sludges, and slurry containing large suspended solids.

Belonging to the positive displacement family of pumps, LSM peristaltics share many of the advantages of progressive cavity, rotary lobe, and ram pumps without the high running and maintenance costs that these types can come with.

LSM Pumps are a Danish based company and are one of the main players in the industrial peristaltic pumps market, from small 2L/min dosing models to the 200mm (8”) hose diameter model capable of 300 m3/hr.

These positive displacement pumps are used globally in many industries and are known for their low energy consumption, easy maintenance and their exceptional build quality. They are self-priming, high-pressure pumps that can safely run dry, and have the ability to pass large objects (determined by pipe diameter).

LSM Pump Advantages

  • Self-priming, with good suction-lift capability.
  • Flow-rate and volume controllable by variable speed drive (VSD).
  • High pressure pumping – unaffected by inlet pressure.
  • Reversible – ideal for filling and emptying tanks.
  • ‘Self clearing’ and resistant to scaling/crystalisation.
  • Abrasion and impact resistant hose.
  • Large tolerance to suspended solids.
  • Rollers self-seal, preventing backflow and leakage.
  • With no impeller, rotor or lobes interferring with the flow.
  • Fluid doesn’t come into contact with any expensive or complex parts, gaskets or bearings.
  • Ability to run dry – ideal for viscous fluids and intermittant feed rates.
  • High pressure pumping – unaffected by inlet pressure.
  • Compact, low footprint takes less floorspace than comparative pumps
  • Low energy consumption
  • Simple operation and easy maintenance

Atlantic Pumps are delighted to be the UK distributor for LSM Pumps

LSM pumps have many applications and advantages across industry, and give our pump system engineers extra capabilities and opportunities to further increase plant efficiency.

Atlantic Pumps sell or hire LSM pumps throughout the UK and Ireland, and incorporate them in packaged solutions where appropriate.

Industries benefitting from LSM Pumps include:

  • Wastewater and effluent treatment plants – storm tank desludging
  • Sewage and high rag content sludges – passes rag with ease.
  • Food factories – food grade hosing and stainless steel options, plus models ideal for abrasive/high-solids food-waste slurry.
  • AD and Biogas plants – digestate pumping, digester emptying, highdry matter feedstocks such as biomass and manure.
  • Civil engineering – grout and paste backfill, and mud pumping
  • Aquaculture and fish protection – The LSM linear pump is designed specifically for the gentle, stress-free transportation of eels and fish.

LSM Pumps for Biogas, Water, Wastewater and Sewage Treatment Plants

The large range of model sizes finds LSM pumps working at many duties in WwTP, resulting in much lower maintenance and energy costs
when compared to alternative positive displacement(PD) pumps.

Sludges and entrained solids – LSM-25, LSM-32, LSM-and LSM-50

These models are the most popular for pumping sludges through the treatment process as they tolerate sand, grit, and high-dry matter. Their slower rotation and large diameter enable them to pass rag without issue. Treatment plants are able to pump a wide range of viscostities, dewater sludge to the next level of efficieny, and reduce the volume of liquid tankered off-site.

The low wear rate results in less downtime, and consistent energy savings throughout the pumps lifetime. Furthermore, the princple wear part is low cost and easier to replace than most alternative PD pumps.

Accurate dosing of chemicals – LSM-10 and LSM-15

The 3/4” and 1/2” hose models are ideal for accurate dosing of chemicals used in water treatment. Leakage-proof, self-sealing, a controllable
and predictable flow-rate, and ease of maintenance make light work of critical dosing systems.

Storm tanks, Grit trap and Digester tank emptying: LSM-50 to LSM-200

The high suction lift, high solids and high density capability, plus great wear resistance, make the larger LSM pumps ideal for emptying and clearing tanks and lagoons of settled slduge and solids. This task restores treatment plant capacity, while allowing for for safety inspections and maintenance to be done swiftly and timely.

The largest perstaltic pump – the LSM-200 has an 8” (200mm) tube and delivers up to 300 m3/hr at 10 bar/102 m head pressure.

Pumps for Biomas, Anearobic Digestion and Rendering Plants

LSM pumps’ perstaltic princple and their simple, rugged construction lends themselves to pumping food waste, plant fibres, egg shells, fats/ oils/greases

Fish-friendly and Eel Safe Pumps

Although the standard LSM pump range offers low shear movement and reduced risk for fish transfer, LSM have a dedicated live fish-friendly and eel safe pump that prioritises fish protection. This linear pump creates an eddy movement that pumps the water and fish together, and is used in aqua-culture or as a temporary to long term fish-pass in engineering projects on natural watercourses.
