Atlantic Pumps Design Engineer Matthew Farrow is currently attending a three-day Institution of Mechanical Engineering accredited Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) course in London.

This specific course focuses on BS 8888 which brings together all the international standards to correctly prepare product specification documents (engineering drawings). Here at Atlantic we use ASME-Y14.5, which is functionally very similar, hence the training is directly applicable.

It is important for our design engineers to be skilled in this way because it is the only perfect method of communicating how parts and assemblies should be. Therefore, each part is guaranteed to fulfil the design intent – all functional parts are accepted and all non-functional parts are rejected, and all our parts perfectly fit together in our assemblies.

With our engineering department set up in this way, we allow ourselves to find and trace errors, operate at the highest possible efficiency without sacrificing any quality and be massively scalable in the future.

We also take a sustainable approach to our work and are committed to reducing energy waste from pumps. Our expert knowledge allows us to reduce energy usage by 20% on the average site!
